Well Addison had the high fever virus for about 5 days and then Ella Kate got it as well! She had field day the last Monday of school, she was a little sluggish but I sent her on. I got a all from her teacher around 2:00, Ella Kate was running 102 temp. Great. So that was the end of school for her. She didn’t get to say goodbye to her friends or her teachers, poor kid. Their last day was Wednesday. They hit the road to Mimi and Papas and have been there since! Oh also, that Monday night Ella Kate rocked her spring violin recital with a 103 temp!
June 3rd, my little Addison turned 5. Ella Kate had school and Michael was at work. So the morning of her birthday I surprised her with balloons and donuts! Mimi made her a rainbow shirt for her birthday. We decided to go to the NC arboretum and check it out. Super neat place! After that we went to REI and ate lunch at Hickory Tavern, the birthday girl dined on a huge plate of mac and cheese and chicken fingers. We ran a few more errands and picked Ella Kate up from school. We waited on Michael to get home and off we went to AVL Pizza for pizza and games. After that we came home and ate cupcakes!
Disregard the icing on the cupcakes, that was me. I am not the baker of the family. Simply because I don’t eat sweets, which is hilarious because we usually get asked to bring desserts to parties and I’m thinking, how how does that keep happening. Michael made the cupcakes and I pooped frosting on top from a zip lock bag.
Saturday was the bigger celebration, after their last swim lesson! We came home and put rainbow shirts back on and headed to Pisgah Gem Mine to let the girls do some rock digging. This was a huge hit, they love rocks and came home with about 1lb of assorted gems. After that we took my parents to Looking Glass Falls in Brevard. The girls wished they had brought their swim suits. Then we took the scenic route on the way home to show them some mountain views on the BRP. Addison got to open a present from Mimi and Papa which was water balloons and the girls threw those, rode bikes, and played outside while we made Addison’s birthday dinner…steaks! Then we mowed down a delicious strawberry cake that Michael made, opened the rest of the presents, and played pin the cloud on the rainbow. Addison had a blast and said it was the best day ever. Her day was filled of all her favorites rainbows and unicorns!
Ready for kindergarten!
On Monday we went to her 5 year checkup, well actually my mom took her because I was down the hall with Ella Kate getting her checked out with the fever virus as well. Addison still only weighs 31.5 lbs. One of the doctors had asked us if anyone had spoken to us about weight issues. Not really, she has always been tiny. They suggested getting her thyroid checked but they decided against it since she is eating a ton, and growing, just not that much. I think she is just going to be a tiny kid.
The rest of the week we went to the Biltmore, Mt. Mitchell, and bummed around town!
EK asleep at the Dr.
The girls and I found this rad rainbow 3′ beach ball from Walmart and we used it as party decor. It was a beast to blow up! We sent that to Mimi and Papa’s house to use in the pool!
Ella Kate’s temp was around 99 Thursday morning and they decided to go on home. She had a fever spike on the way home, but managed to tough it out. Michael and I had big plans to hike the Art Loeb trail that weekend. So I cleaned the house while Michael was at work, after left, we went and dropped a car at Daniel Boone Boy Scout Camp where we were told we had to get a Bear Canister, so we hauled booty back to REI to get one, they were almost closed! So that was our Birthday/week with Mimi and Papa!
