No not basketball, I don’t basketball or have time to watch that sort of thing! Football though, whole nother ballgame!
We have had a busy busy March! My blog took a hiatus because I am working on another project! Since I turned down the job at Snow Creek…I’ve or we’ve been doing some soul searching. At this point in our life, my main job is here, at home, with the kids. I have decided to go to work for myself. Our baby, Appalachian Springs, has been born. I am officially free lancing. I have 4 customers right now and that was only by word of mouth. One of them is a relatively large design, I have been working on it for a few weeks now and haven’t even begun to put plants in! I have a facebook page and a blog, but haven’t promoted them yet. We are waiting on plants to come in for our house so I can take some pictures of the process. I am also revising a logo that we came up with as well. So waiting on all that to come together and then start advertising through our church, ymca, karate, various facebook pages and things like that. So I am super excited about it, and hoping I can do well! I am on a learning curve right now with plants, so Michael gets texts from me throughout the day asking questions about certain plants. I need to spend a day at a garden center or the arboretum here and do some learning. That’s another reason why we didn’t want to leave the south, because learning a whole other region of plant materials would take time!
Every weekend has been busy with hiking, visitors, church activities, and loads of outdoor time! I noticed over the past few weeks that we haven’t had the TV on once…and if it was it was playing pandora. They did watch some movies this past weekend cause the weather was ugly! We got a dusting of snow last night! But for the last few weeks we have been in the upper 60s and low 70s…
Addison loves laying in the front yard!
Eating on the front porch a bunch!
Practicing our hoola hoop skills.
Dr. Seuss week!
We saw Looking Glass falls finally…major tourist attraction because its a waterfall on the roadside, so no hiking!
We hiked Coon Tree Loop Trail a few weeks ago…
Michael said make a crazy face.
Mimi, Holly, and Anna Claire came to visit while they were on spring break! They got in Thursday and we visited. Friday I dropped my kids off at school and we hit up some outdoors stores around here. We picked the kids up and headed to Black Mountain for another store, for the drive (mountains), and to get EK a shoulder rest for her violin. We headed to AVL Pizza to celebrate Anna Claire’s 7th birthday and came home and had cupcakes and ice-cream!
Saturday we packed some lunches and snacks and headed to Dupont State Forest. I took them to Hooker Falls and Triple Falls. They loved it! We also learned that Mimi is a little weary of the Blue Ridge Parkway. When she was here in the fall, leaf season, she mainly was looking up. Now that its late winter, you can see down…and it goes down down down. I drove them to an overlook so they could see out! Holly and AC loved it!
We all had a fine time visiting! After the hike, I took Holly to see Sierra Nevada. Afterwards we came home and got ready to go down town. We went and ate at Pack’s Tavern and headed to Mast General Store…then headed home to watch movies and let them pack! They left early early (time change) Sunday morning!
This past Saturday I had to go meet a client in Weaverville and afterwards we came home and dyed Easter Eggs. I bought a kit at Aldi’s that I have never used before…it had bags and dye that you just drop in and shake the egg. It was a “clean” method!
Yesterday was a big day! Not only was it Palm Sunday (girls were excited to walk around with palms)…we joined our church! Then we had a big potluck lunch after the last service. After that they had a family experience were we walked through Jesus’s last week on Earth. They carried the palms again, petted donkies, wore rocks in their shoes to represent sin (Addison didn’t like that at all), participated in the Last Supper, washed away sin, and went to the empty tomb and were given glow sticks to go be lights in the world! They had fun!
I have a job to do at the church this week, the preacher asked me if I would plants flowers out front for the Easter Service and I said I sure would! So I’ve got to go find 5 flats of flowers to plant! We have dinner at church Wednesday and the Service of Healing Prayer that night so I am going to go plant either tomorrow or Wednesday. We will be missing Maundy Thursday and Tenebrae services on Thursday and Friday as we are heading to Memphis Thursday. Michael and I are coming back Sunday after lunch and the girls are spending the week with Mimi and Papa as it is their spring break!
So that about sums up our March Madness! Our to do list is getting full of hikes, waterfall hopping, and camping for the summer! We are about to buy another tent as our tent situation is getting smaller as the girls are getting bigger! We will be getting a back packing tent and go that route of either they stay in a tent together, or Michael and I will split up! So far they say they want their own tent…we shall see!
