Just going to put these post all together since they are way over due. December was a blur. With the house and all the activities we had going on…hot mess!
So here it is in a nutshell:
- EK got 5″ of hair cut off
- Polar Express
- EK tested for orange belt
- EK violin recital
- Christmas pageant at church
- Packed the final truck for Asheville
- Ella Kate turned 8
Ella Kate got a big hair cut…5″ gone!
First week of December we drove to Bryson City to ride the Polar Express. Totally fun, we had a good time. The girls also went to the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown with Mimi and Papa in October and they said they had more fun on that one though. There was a ton of activities for them to do…on the Polar Express we got on, ate cookies and hot chocolate, listened to them read the book, punch our golden tickets, and saw the North Pole where we picked up Santa and then he visited with all the kids.
Orange belt test…she did well, and we don’t really know what they are learning as we watch from three tv screens so we can’t hear what is going on…so it was rather neat to watch Ella Kate do everything, and she does it well!
Violin Recital at Biltmore United Methodist Church…I have a video of it, but haven’t uploaded it yet.
Addison being a super supportive little sister!
Christmas pageant at church…Ella Kate was a donkey with a speaking part…and Addison was a sheep!
Christmas…The girls and I headed to Memphis on December 19th. Michael had to stay for work. He flew in on December 23. We left early that Saturday, all was well until we reached the gorge…and then the poo hit the fan. The gorge is big windy roads with huge mountains on either sides…and no place to stop. I am not sure which happened first, but next thing you know, Addison barfed. It was just water but she was a mess. Ella Kate blew up with some sort of allergic reaction. It takes a while to get through the gorge…so I blew into the first rest station out of the gorge to take assessment. Addison was good to go, all water. Freak accident. Ella Kate, not sure…gave her albuterol, pills, and had her wash off her face, blow her nose, repeat albuterol. She was blowed up, eyes swollen and everything. Strange!
We did have the cat in the car, but she has never bothered her before. After those incidents, we were golden. We made it to 385 and Moonpie finally came out of her carrier and climbed on my lap and proceeded to climb up and sit on my shoulder and then jump off my neck leaving a huge bloody scratch on it! But we made it, barf, allergy, and bloody scratches!
We spent the week visiting with family and friends!
Photobomb by Moonpie!
Well after searching through all the pictures that I uploaded I decided it was an epic fail on taking pictures with both our families…but I do know they are out there…My dad took some on his camera and Sarah was taking pictures of everyone on her phone!
Ella Kate turns 8!!
First off, 8, this kid is 8!!! Kids sure make life fly by way way to fast!
My mom, bless her, took on the responsibility of hosting her party now that we have moved. The day after Christmas we helped them take Christmas down to get ready for the party on Monday. I told her she didn’t have to take it down, but we all normally take it down asap. She called me some time in November and asked me what we were going to do for her birthday party…I was buried in boxes and hadn’t even thought about it…I said pizza and cake? She said I got this. So we picked the owl theme and she did everything else. Costco cake, chick fil a chicken nugget platter, other fixings, and hosted over 20 people at her house!
The day before the party we emptied the last storage unit into the last truck headed for Asheville. Yuck. Michael left the following day after the party and we left the next day. We all had dental appointments in Corinth. Addison actually let them clean her teeth for the first time ever!
Driving back to Asheville!
We didn’t send out Christmas cards this year due to the picture after this one…
Hoping next year our house will look more festive! See the 4 ornaments on the tree and unorganized mantle…least of our worries right?!
December was warm here too, Michael put Christmas lights on the house and Ella Kate rode around the neighborhood!
We decided to do both pitches on the house for next year. That’s Olaf in the front right there.
Sunset while Christmas light decorating.
For Ella Kate’s birthday day, New Years Eve, she wanted to go to Asheville Pizza. So we headed there and ate pizza and played games. Then we headed up to the Dodds house and they had cupcakes, a balloon, and a card for her. We danced and partied, put the kids to bed, and rang in the New Year in Asheville!
And that peeps…was our December! Among getting rid of boxes and figuring out what to do with all our stuff…we also laid plywood down for the attic and epoxied the garage floor!
