So crazy. 7 years old. So big. Ever since we saw the movie Frozen, EK wanted a Frozen birthday party…and a Frozen birthday party she had. We had some minor bumps in the road…more on that in a minute.
or now. The Tuesday before Christmas EK started to cough. It got worse at night, she had a little trouble breathing. I gave her BT (breathing treatment) at night and it helped. That went on for about a week and the night before NYE, boom, full out asthma attack. We were in semi freak out mode and I started BT every 2-3 hours, O2 was anywhere from 92-94, not good. She was responding to the BT but I debated about going to the ER. We monitored throughout the night. I had packed a bag ready for us to go. Luckily we made it through the night. I called promptly at 8:00 to make a NYE appt at the only open office. They told us to head on in and be there at 9:00. Her stat was around 92-93, she was really tight. I prayed throughout the whole visit for us not to go to the ER…please no, for several reasons…Birthday in hospital…no. Meeting a $3600 deductible at the end of the year…NO NO NO!! They gave her a BT and she opened up a little bit. He said we could do this all day long, I will send you home with a big dose of steroids…boo, but YAY!! I had planned to make all the chocolate dipped stuff the night before the party, but decided not to because we might not have a party. The only thing I had left to do was pick up balloons and the sandwiches from Costco. So after her appt we headed to get the last things and to pick up her roids and busted butt to set up the party.
She felt terrible and I gave her steroids at 10:00 and again at 2:30, by the end of the party she was perked up a good bit. We got her donuts for breakfast, which she mowed down…and we took her to Mezcal for lunch were she boohooed and slept on my lap. Boo. We got home and she took a nap for about 2 hours. Then we partied on down!
