Well being landscapers and all, we tend to watch the weather pretty often. We looked at the forecast the Tuesday before Easter and decided that we would go ahead and plant the garden. Man, good thing we did. 8″ of rain later, everything has sprouted, amazingly. We have had monsoons, tornado watches after tornado watches, and more monsoons. I say we are fairly lucky, compared to the folks in Alabama and Mississippi.
Michael got home early that Tuesday and we busted out the tiller, seeds, Ella Kate’s play shovels, and seeds and got that thing planted. It rained Tuesday night, Wednesday, and Thursday I think. We had a break over the weekend and were able to plant our annual flowers and participate in Ella Kate’s 6th Easter Egg hunt of 2011. Then it rained Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday…I can’t even remember if those are the correct days…it has rained a ton.
Anyways, we thought the seeds might have been washed away, or received too much water, but the garden is as happy as can be.
Oh and we planted, organic: squash, cucumbers, zucchini, bell peppers, jalapenos, string beans, pole beans, cherry tomatoes, green onions, and sweet onions. I think that might be it. We are excited our CSA starts next Wednesday with Whitton Farms! I can’t wait to see what we get!
