Some of you may remember me talking a lot about my friend Sandi, who was my old drafter at my first job. We were pretty tight back when we worked side by side…we would email thousands and thousands of emails a day and concoct evil plans towards our boss, Chuck…who we both despise.
Over the years we grew distant but still emailed monthly. She moved to Atlanta, got a divorce and moved to Denver, Colorado her home town…she got married two years ago and had a baby 16 months ago.
Last week, she was on her way to pick up Riley, her 16 month old from an in home day care in her town and her phone started blowing up. The owner of the day care had run over her son, while backing out of the driveway. She didn’t know he wasn’t in the car and was unaware that he was behind the car.
Police and medics arrived to the scene and he was pronounced dead at the hospital….severe brain injuries.
I can’t even imagine what is going through their heads. And not that there is any a good time for something tragic like this to happen…but right around Christmas. What was to be his second Christmas. Riley was cremated and Sandi received an anonymous donation of a necklace that she can keep a small portion of his ashes in and carry him forever. His funeral is tomorrow…please keep this family in your prayers.
